How does the process of selecting Dynamics Nav start?

If Nav is part of the solution selection process (that is part of a short list of appications that may fit your requirements), you will have already contacted Microsoft and they would have put you in touch with their designated Solution Centre.

What can we do if we are not happy with the Solution Centre appointed?

There a 2 choices here: escalate to Microsoft who will then appoint another Solution Centre or contact us here and we will:
Recommend a Solution Centre that we have worked with before.
Provide the full range of Nav services required except for licence changes which will be provided by our recommendedd Solution Centre.

We already have a Dynamics Nav Solution Centre so why would we need your services?

We offer better value added services through a combination of a more personalised service to your specific needs and lower day rate charges. We will listen to your requirements, document them and fulfill them. Our day rates are at least 20% below the market rates and development estimates, for example, significantly below Solution Centre estimates. Our development solutions are all supported by step by step process guides (including screen dumps from Nav) in pdf file format.
We offer the same services as a Dynamics Nav Solution Centre except for the purchase or enhancement of the Dynamics Nav licence. Licences can only be purchased through a Dynamics Nav Solution Centre. But this does not tie you into using the Dynamics Nav Solution Centre for all services.
We have been using, implementing, developing and supporting Dynamics Nav since 2003 when FPC was created. Neil, the director, has used Dynamics Nav since 1999 when he selected Navision Financials from a short list of 5 applications to be the main finance application for a shared services operation for Hays Plc.

So what is a Nav licence?

This is the licence file for the Nav application that defines what modules you can use
and how many users can access the application at the same time (known as concurrent sessions). The modules are split by process functionality and the licence structure means that the application installation will install all modules but the licence will show those that may be used.
This is acquired when the Nav application is purchased from the Dynamics Nav Solution Centre. A annual maintenance fee is also payable each year to ensure you can upgrade the licence to the latest version.
Any change to the modules required will be completed via a licence enhancement.

The best day rates are available from India and Asia. So why would we use FPC?

India and Asia do indeed offer very competitive day rates but in order to get the best out of these day rates, you need to be very specific in your requirements and manage the solution through to completion.
Also beware that although the day rates are significantly lower, the development effort is usually significantly higher - either due to misinterpretation of requirements or the estimated development effort from India.
All this is manageable through detailed specification of the requirements, careful communication of these requirements to India and careful management of fulfillment to completion - through regular reporting etc.
We can provide this service as well. The FPC director, Neil, managed an off shore Indian support operation for Hays Plc back in 1999.

We already pay an annual maintenance fee. So are we not already covered for support?

The annual maintenance fee of around 18% only guarantees the right to upgrade to the latest version of Dynamics Nav. This means that when you choose to upgrade, the relevant Nav licence file will be provided free of charge. However, you will still need support to complete the upgrade process and this is NOT free of charge.
So this maintenance fee does NOT include any support.

Can we get support for old versions of Dynamics Nav (or Navision)?

Yes Fraser Price Consulting support all versions of Navision from Navision Financials v2.x right through to the current version 2009 Classic and RTC.
We provide support either at a fixed price per month (based on number of users) or ad hoc at an hourly rate. Our services for older versions of Dynamics Nav include support, developments and training. More details are available from the List of Services link on the right hand side.

Why upgrade to the latest version of Dynamics Nav?

This will always be a business cost / benefits decision but as long as your business has maintained the software maintenance fee each year, you are entitled to the latest software free of charge.
That's the good news! The bad news is that unless you have a dedicated Nav support operation within the business, migrating from the old to new version will require support from Nav consultants.
Then consideration will also need to be given to IT instrastructure enhancements required as a result of upgrading. If from Nav v5.x to 2009, there will be little additional requirement.
